David Porter, Sr.

 David Porter, Sr. is a man of many talents and skills. He is has been an author, a business owner, a pastor, a college basketball player, a father and a husband. Through each phase of his life, David has strived to embody integrity, leadership and a commitment to excellence. David earned a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a Masters in Sociology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Professionally, David has worked as an executive in the health care industry for the past 20 years.  He is also an entrepreneur.  In 2003, he co-founded (with his wife) Staffing Etc. a thriving health care staffing firm that services clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic area.

 

Despite the many positions he has held, David’s most comprehensive service has come in the area of outreach and evangelism. In this capacity, he has worked extensively in street witnessing, and door to door evangelism.  David has also ministered in several prisons including those in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Jessup Maryland, and Lorton, Virginia.  David served under the leadership of his mentor and former pastor, Dr. James E. Jordan, Jr. of the Refreshing Spring Church of God In Christ for more than 12 years before starting Excel Church.

Since May of 1989, David Porter, Sr. has been happily married to Hope Porter.  David is the father of  five children: David Jr., Nathan, Sarah, Priscilla, and Faith, and he takes pride in leading his family.
